CHAIR YOGA
A Chair Yoga class is similar to traditional yoga classes (with the same results and benefits) with one exception - the practitioner is seated in a chair for the duration of the practice. A seated practice is ideal for those who may have difficulty getting up & down from the floor or for those who have a physical condition or injury that requires them to exercise on a chair (such as arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis, stroke, chronic pain, etc.). Chair Yoga also appeals to those who sit for long periods of time at desks or in cars & airplanes and want a "pick-me-up."
Traditional yoga postures have been adapted to suit the seated practitioner and modifications & variations are given to allow practitioners to choose their level of challenge and ease for the day. No need to be fit, flexible, or have prior yoga experience.
The techniques learned will enable you to experience a healthier body & mind free from many everyday tensions and anxieties. Chair Yoga classes are designed to release mental, emotional, and physical blocks that stop us from experiencing our fullest potential.
Classes are 60-minutes and begin with a brief centering, breathing & setting of an intention, moving into some warm-ups followed by a posture sequence, and ending with soothing guided relaxation.
